A slow pace: the benefits of walking
Walking is very important for our psychophysical well-being and has beneficial effects on the entire body: walking, even alone, in the open air allows you to reconnect with yourself and helps you get rid of anxieties and tensions. Walking is one of the most recommended activities after a period of immobility as a matter of fact that it reactivates the body slowly, moves heart and all muscles in a gentle way, and contributes to the raising of the immune defences. And if you like it, maybe this summer you can use walking to make a new experience of relaxation and vacation for your journey and get in touch with your inner essence.
The rhythmic and regular movement of the steps while walking produces a greater amount of endorphins, the so-called happiness hormones, which reduce anxiety and stress and have a positive effect on mood. Walking also allows for greater oxygenation and strengthening of the muscles. At the same time, an activity that involves the whole body slowly and gently, helps to decrease the production of catabolic and stress-carrying hormones, such as cortisol.
Walking also helps to understand our personal space in relation to the surrounding world.
The steps give rhythm to thoughts and help you to focus on what really matters: after a walk we learn how to be more aware of our deepest feelings. For this reason, the human being has always travelled on foot the itineraries that led to sacred places, to accompany the real progress with the spiritual one, to be in touch with the truth.
Even if you feel fit and can start immediately with 15 - 30 minutes of walking a day, please remember that you are not running the marathon, so you can stop, enjoy the spring nature that is blooming around you and, above all, you can free your mind and relax.
Combining the right breathing with walking is important to improve cardiovascular capacity, this is another benefit that walking regularly can have on your body, useful also to support the body during movement. In fact, adopting a respiration that allows the body to oxygenate correctly, favours the strengthening of the muscle groups and has also beneficial effects on the metabolism that will begin to reactivate.
Combining breathing exercises with your steps also helps you to be more aware of your body and also benefits posture, facilitated by the strengthening of the diaphragm muscles stimulated by breathing.
Walking in nature is an experience that transmits positivity and well-being to the entire body.
When you practice an activity in which you are exposed to the sun, you guarantee your body greater absorption of vitamin D, which is essential for the well-being of the bones and for strengthening the immune system. Furthermore, the external landscape in which you find yourselves walking can have a direct effect on your emotions and your feelings.
